After reading Jaron Lanier, I think his concerns and criticism on social-media technologies are indeed inspiring. Too often we let online database information to represent ourselves and leave out realities of our identities and humanity. In this way, technology will become dehumanizing rather than human-centered. I found these two videos on Youtube in which Lanier talks about the "avatar" experiences and why he thinks too much reliance on technologies is so problematic.
